At our clinic, we use predominantly Solution-focused techniques with families which look nothing like the psychoanalytic parodies they can't seem to break away from. A lot of one-down approach stuff which connects us with our clients so we are joining them instead of being impartial or distant.
After all, we acknowledge films include color and sound now, so its only fair they acknowledge the changes in our industry, too:).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14266127396351211649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27072566.post-46877309892813842812010-12-09T13:48:26.758-06:002010-12-09T13:48:26.758-06:00I have been an avid watcher on In Treatment..it ha...I have been an avid watcher on In Treatment..it has been by far the most realistic look at therapy I have ever seen..Being in therapy myself I identified with some of the issues...I write my own blog about my own therapy to give people a glimpse...I will be anxiously waiting for season 4 of In Treatment... I did watch a bunch of episodes of In Treatment (2nd season) and I kept wondering why I came back for more. The show drove me nuts, made me want to scream at the TV, shake him. The clients stories are GREAT, but he's the type of therapist that won't answer a question, asks a question back, makes the conversation go in circles, and I have absolutely no tolerance for that. Say SOMETHING. i KNOW you have an opinion, even if you are just on TV.

On the other subject, you look at people's facebook profiles? Does that mean they can see yours? I'd find that weird, having access to my therapist's profile. If my therapist had access to my profile all she'd see on my wall are my blog posts (which she reads anyway), links to disability rights articles (some of which I email her anyway), and pictures from thanksgiving (a small fraction of which I put on my itouch and showed her anyway).

I'm wondering, do you let clients text you? I've been doing that for years, never asked her if I'm the only one, always thought it meant I was codependent and needy. Recently a blog reader basically said it makes me a spoiled brat.

http://uppity-crip.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-to-survive-therapy-tips-1-8-cheryl.html

I relayed that comment to my therapist, who told me lots of therapists let clients text them now. Really? I said. I'm the only one in my support group who has text access to her therapist.
