Historic Speeches

It's hard living with a guy who has to pun everything.

FD walks in on me cooking this morning and he says, "Whoa, what's this?"

"Tonight Barak is going to make an historic speech. This is the anniversary of Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream speech. It will be historic, important, I think, no matter who anybody's voting for.

So if I don't cook now I'll have to cook tonight. And then I'll either burn something or miss something. History in the making, baby."

"You would be a great President," he says. "You'd make a hysteric speech."

Groan. I can't believe I walked right into that one. But he's not finished.

"You'd tell the people,
'I've traveled near and far, the length and breadth of this country. I've talked to thousands of Americans and I can tell you, from the bottom of my heart,

This is one of the craziest places I've ever been. Everyone needs. . .'
It's tough, I tell you. Hysteric speech.

Funny! Thanks for this light note.

Tragically I cannot think of any great puns but I've been reading "Everyone Needs Therapy" for several months now. It just seems wrong that I haven't posted any gratitude for your wisdom/humor/ramblings. I'm currently acquiring an MA in Professional Counseling, so I shall blame my lack of manners on a busy schedule with an emphasis on the thesis (insert dramatic music here).

THANK YOU for making me laugh, occasionally making me cry, and providing thought provoking posts. My recent favorite post of yours was regarding shame.

I'm not one for puns, but that's a great speech. When you're ready to move on from the therapy/blog thing and launch your exciting new political career, you'll have your in-house speechwriter all ready to go.

The world needs more puns!
Unfortunately, I can't think of one at this hour of the a.m.

Would a hysteric start out "Once upun a time..."?

Oh.
It wouldn't.
Okay, just checking. Off to get more caffeine.

It *was* punny. My hubby does that alot too. His wit can be endearing sometimes, while other times it just makes me roll my eyes.

Is it a guy thing? I like it if it is.

I'm reading too early in the morning. Believe it or not, I didn't get the historic/hysteric thing - took a couple of comments to swing it home for me. Sad, huh?

Hope you got a chance to watch the speech?

Not based on scientific research, but....

No question, I know quite a few men who enjoying punning, vs. the many women who enjoying rolling their eyes at it all.

Unscientific conclusion: It's definitely a guy thing.

Guys are always trying to get the attention of women. A laugh or eye rolling; it's all the same to us; a reaction.

That's it! It's to make us love them. I knew there had to be an ulterior motive.
